According to a report from Foot Mercato, Sunderland AFC have sent a €20 million offer to FC Nantes for France youth international Matthis Abline (22). The striker has been a target for several Premier League clubs this summer, with Brentford FC and Burnley FC also linked to the forward.
It’s an offer that falls below the expected asking price that Nantes have set for the forward. Les Canaris want between €25 to €30 million for a player who was essential in staving off relegation from Ligue 1 last season. However, it remains to be seen whether Nantes will accept Sunderland’s bid.
There had been interest from France in Abline’s talents. Olympique de Marseille are in the market for attacking talent as they prepare for a campaign back in the UEFA Champions League. However, they were warded off by the Nantes president who set them alone a €50 million transfer fee, due to ill-feeling over previous dealings.
