A tweet from the @VisitDPRK account revealed the surprising news on Sunday which then linked to an article on the Black Cats official website.

Tom Fowdy, a Sunderland fan who now lives in Pyongyang, is the first official member and is hoping to make Jack Ross’ side the biggest club in the Democratic People’s Republic.

A place cut off from the rest of the world, ruled over by a despotic regime, where life is a constant joyless struggle.

It’s almost like the Stadium of Light and North Korea are made for each other.
