Sunderland complete signing of full-back Boyes
FAWSL Full-Time
The defender re-joins the Wearside club after previously coming through their Regional Talent Centre (RTC).
Boyes has developed her game in spells with clubs further down the pyramid. The player has played in the FA Women’s National League Division One North with Alnwick Town while she has also featured in the third tier with Middlesbrough.
After completing her return to Sunderland, Boyes said “I’m so glad to be back at Sunderland, it’s where I started my football journey.
“This club is where I’ve always wanted to be to help push and develop my career.
“I’m excited to get started and train with all the girls here.”
Boyes has travelled to Sussex with Melanie Reay’s Sunderland squad for tomorrow’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against Lewes. The Lady Black Cats are aiming to record their first league win since they defeated Charlton Athletic 1-0 on the road at the end of October.
Reay’s side have a good record on their travels this season. The Lady Black Cats have collected eight of their 12 points away from the North East and they will be keen to improve that record against an inconsistent Lewes side.
