The Black Cats look are keen to bring in Simon Adingra in any deal that sees Tommy Watson go the opposite way.

That is according to the Daily Mail (3/2; 11:11am), who believe the Black Cats are eyeing an ambitious move for the Ivorian, who has also been the subject of interest from Marseille during this window.

Watson, meanwhile, has been the subject of interest from Brighton for quite some time, with the Premier League outfit having bids knocked back for the teenager in the summer.

But they have continued their pursuit of the winger, who has been able to make a first-team impact under Regis Le Bris this season.

He has only been prevented from making more appearances this term because of an injury, but he has still made his mark at the Stadium of Light, scoring a brace against Stoke City earlier this season.

However, the Black Cats could be set to become the victims of their own success with their bright young players, with Watson potentially on his way out before the window closes at 11pm tonight.

Sunderland eyeing Simon Adingra and Tommy Watson loan deal

According to Pete O'Rourke, the player is set was travel south to undergo a medical and engage in talks, before potentially putting pen to paper on a new contract.

They have been on Watson's tail for some time and are keen to get a deal over the line for him, amid interest from Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

But the Daily Mail believe the Black Cats have taken a very tough stance on the player, with the club only willing to let Watson go if they secure a deal for Adingra in return.

This deal for Adingra may include a loan with an option to buy, but the Seagulls have already rejected a £20m offer from Marseille during this window and aren't keen to let the Ivorian go.

Brighton and Adingra are weighing up the potential swap deal, which is said to seem unlikely at this stage.

This is a shame for Le Bris' men, who would richly benefit from having Adingra at their disposal. However, they may be keen to retain promising wide player Watson.

Tommy Watson should carefully weigh up his options

Brighton could be a good destination for Watson.

They are a solid Premier League team now and the Amex Stadium could be a good place for him to develop.

The U21s side compete in Premier League 2 and he would have the chance to play alongside Caylan Vickers, who is also a very talented youngster and was poached from the EFL.

However, Watson would have a real chance to play under Le Bris in the coming months and the opportunity to play for the Black Cats' first team regularly will be appealing.

This is why the winger needs to think twice about a move to the south coast.
