Napoli, Juventus and before that Torino had been linked with Georgiy Sudakov, but the €150m release clause set by Shakhtar Donetsk makes that practically impossible.
The Ukraine international can play in various different supporting roles behind the centre-forward and was expected to cost in the region of €20-30m.
However, that price-tag levitated drastically after he signed a new contract with Shakhtar Donetsk, which includes a release clause worth €150m.
That does not mean Sudakov is simply not for sale, but rather that the club is looking for circa €50m to part with him over the summer.
It puts him beyond the means of Serie A sides including Juve and Napoli, so it would seem to be more of a Premier League bidding war for the Ukrainian.
Liverpool are the only side who ever came close to his signature, with Manchester City, Barcelona and Bayern Munich also showing interest.
Sudakov only turned 21 in September and is now under contract until December 2028.
