With Champions League football secured for the first time since the 2009/10 season, Stuttgart are planning a busy summer transfer window. Frans Krätzig (21) and Justin Diehl (19) have already joined the club, and now VfB are monitoring the situation of Copenhagen forward Emil Höjlund (19), younger brother of Manchester United’s Rasmus Höjlund.

With a contract expiring at the end of the year, Höjlund fits Stuttgart’s profile: young, promising and cheap. And according to Kicker, the Dane isn’t a replacement for Serhou Guirassy, who looks certain to join Borussia Dortmund, or Deniz Undav, who has returned to Brighton since his loan expired, although the Swabian club would like to sign the German attacker on a permanent basis. But also on the list of candidates, is Augsburg’s Ermedin Demirović.

Höjlund scored four and created three in eight UEFA Youth League games last season for Copenhagen last season, adding to his eight in 11 games in the U19 league. With departures inevitable, Stuttgart are working hard to strengthen their squad ahead of a European campaign.
