Stuttgart have reportedly paid a fee of €5 million, which could rise to €6 million with bonuses, to sign the talented winger.

"I’m really looking forward to my time at VfB," said Jovanović. "This will be my first time playing for a club away from home, so it’s something very special for me. I’m very happy to be taking this step and, of course, I want to contribute as much as possible at VfB, keep developing, and hopefully celebrate many victories with my teammates and the fans.”

Stuttgart’s sporting director, Fabian Wohlgemuth, said the club have been monitoring Jovanović for some time.

"We have been observing Lazar Jovanović closely for quite a while. Last season, as a very young player, he already made numerous appearances in the Serbian first division and put in strong performances. He also showed his qualities in the Youth League.

"We believe Lazar is ready to make the step to VfB and the Bundesliga, and we warmly welcome him to Stuttgart," said Wohlgemuth.

Jovanović spent the second half of last season on loan at OFK Belgrade, where he scored four goals and provided an assist.
