Patrick van Aanholt is on his way to become a PSV Eindhoven player, according to journalist Marco Timmer.
The Voetbal International reporter broke the news on twitter just as it was announced full-back Philipp Max has left the Philips Stadion to join Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
Van Aanholt, 32, has been out of favour in Turkey having started just two league matches in the last six outings and has not featured in the matchday squad six times already this season, with right-back Leo Dubois preferred in a makeshift role.
The transfer would see Van Aanholt take over from Philipp Max’s role in the squad who has left for the Bundesliga after two-and-a-half years at the Philips Stadion. Max, 29, joins Frankfurt on an initial loan deal with an option to buy in the summer.
With the transfer window due to shut later today, discussions are already in the advanced stages and PSV are hoping to secure the former Chelsea and Crystal Palace defender’s services for the rest of the season.
