Liverpool will have to make the most of the summer to sell some of their fringe assets as well as bringing fresh faces into the dressing room. Finding the balance between the two is imperative.
A lot of money is set to be laid out so far for three players who will be challenging for a place in the starting XI from the off, but the club's spending will be reaching £160m net and according to reports.
Jeremie Frimpong's release clause was £29.8m, meanwhile Milos Kerkez's fee is set to be around £45m and it seems as though Leverkusen are holding out for £120m for Florian Wirtz to join the Reds.
£10m was recouped from Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure one month before his contract was set to end and up to £18m might be brought in from Caoimhin Kelleher's move to Brentford.
In and of itself, £160m is not an unreasonable spend this summer, and more arrivals could potentially be sanctioned without other players needing to be sold but that would put the club in an unstable financial position. As such, other club's interest in our fringe assets must be capitalised on.

Liverpool's fan-favourite centre-back Nathaniel Phillips has been rumoured to move elsewhere for a while now, having struggled to become a permanent part of the squad following the 2020/21 season.
The 28-year-old was partnered with Rhys Williams in the historic injury-ridden season, where the Reds had almost no senior centre-backs available, with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson also getting injured after their covering stints in the role.
As a pairing, they were formidable once they had got to know each other, and their efforts were paramount to helping Liverpool qualify for the Champions League with a fourth-placed finish.
However, Phillips has since been sent on loan spells to Bournemouth, Celtic, Cardiff City, and Derby County and each of them have proved unsuccessful in bringing the Englishman a permanent move.
