According to a report from L’Équipe, an agreement is close between RC Strasbourg Alsace and USL Dunkerque for the loan of Pape Diong (19).

The Senegalese international is set to leave Strasbourg this summer for the north of the country, having previously been linked with Montpellier HSC. Strasbourg are keen on seeing his development, and have reportedly sought to include a minimum number of matches.

Diong arrived in Strasbourg last summer on a €2.2 million transfer (including bonuses) from his formative club AF Darou Salam. He spent a brief period on trial at Chelsea in 2024 before completing his move to the Ligue 1 side.

Dunkerque had been last season’s surprise package, reaching the Ligue 2 playoffs and also the Coupe de France semi-final, where they were eliminated by eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain. However, success often brings attention, and already the club have lost head coach Luís Castro to FC Nantes.
