RC Strasbourg Alsace are in advanced talks with Belgian outfit Club Brugge over the potential signing of promising centre-back Abakar Sylla (20), according to a report from Foot Mercato. Following their complete takeover by Chelsea owners and American consortium BlueCo, the Alsatians are looking to target high-potential young players to give newly-appointed head coach Patrick Vieira the means to aim at a top half finish in Ligue 1.
So far, Strasbourg were mostly linked with departures within the club. Long-serving midfielder Dimitri Liénard (35) left La Meinau for Ligue 2 side Sporting Club Bastia, for instance. Prolific forward Habib Diallo and promising midfielder Habib Diarra were also said to attract interest. Now, according to Foot Mercato, the club could be set for an arrival in the signing of Ivory Coast international centre-back Abakar Sylla. The 20-year-old would be a possible replacement for defender Ismaël Doukouré should Burnley FC make a move for the 19-year-old prospect.
