Free-scoring Strasbourg forward Habib Diallo (28) is set to be the latest sought-after player to accept a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. Foot Mercato reports this Friday that the Senegalese international is on the verge of sealing a transfer to Al Shabab. The Alsatians are expected to accept the Saudi Pro League’s €18m bid. Strasbourg’s Diallo was courted by Ligue 1 rivals Stade Rennais and RC Lens as well as by Serie A side Salernitana. Brentford were also interested.

Still, Strasbourg are set to recoup the €10m they paid for him in the first place from northeastern rivals FC Metz three years ago. Diallo proved a hit at Strasbourg, logging a remarkable 41 goals tally in 103 games played. Foot Mercato report that Strasbourg president Marc Keller was expecting Diallo to leave this summer after hitting 20 goals during the past Ligue 1 campaign. Despite their BlueCo-inspired spending spree, Patrick Vieira’s side may still be compelled to dip into the transfer market for a centre-forward.
