RC Strasbourg Alsace and FC Nantes will face stiff competition in their attempts to convince Julien Ponceau (23) to leave FC Lorient this summer, according to a report by Ouest France.
The midfielder looks to be set on a move away from his formative club as he enters the final year of his contract. Despite Lorient suffering a relegation down to Ligue 2, interest remains high in the young talent after he recorded an impressive season where he missed only two games for the club and managed to score three and assist twice in 33 games.
In Spain, three clubs are all thought to be interested in the Lorient man with Sevilla, Valencia, and Villarreal all assessing a move for the midfielder, while in Italy, AS Roma are also a competing interest.
Closer to home, Strasbourg and Nantes can offer the familiarity of a league that Ponceau now has become acutely accustomed to, while providing a bigger financial pull than Lorient currently possesses. However, with some of the clubs circling the waters for Ponceau, they’ll be in for a tough sell.
