According to L’Équipe, Strasbourg are hoping to extend the contract of captain Alexander Djiku (28), whose deal will run out at the end of the month. With the recent takeover of the club by Chelsea owners BlueCo, president Marc Keller is hoping to tie down the club’s captain swiftly.

Djiku made 31 appearances and scored one goal last season for the Alsatians as they avoided the drop to Ligue 2. The Ghana international moved to east of France from current Ligue 2 side Caen in 2019 for €8m, and has since made 127 appearances for Racing.

American consortium Clearlake concluded a takeover of the club last night, with the Chelsea owners aiming to establish a multi-club model in Europe. Recruitment head Loïc Désiré has already expressed a desire to take Chelsea striker Datro Fofana (20) on a loan move, having monitored the Norway striker.
