The victory resists for a Girona that has run aground in a negative dynamic. The first half didn't see much movement in the penalty area. A great cross from Miguel also almost allowed Asprilla to open the scoring, but the shot also went millimeters wide of the post. A defensive inaccuracy, however, meant that from a possible one-nil lead, it became one-nil, the work of Carlos Vicente. The winger got inside the area and shot across Gazzaniga's goal. The Argentine goalkeeper saved the second in the final stretch with a header from a corner, and the team looked for the equalizer without success.
