Manchester United wingback Diogo Dalot reveals how his compatriot Ruben Amorim is already stamping his mark at the club.

The Portuguese manager was hired to replace Erik ten Hag who was sacked after failing to stir the Red Devils in the right direction.

Amorim arrived at Carrington during the international break, so had little time to implement his tactical ideas, especially with the bulk of his players away with their national teams.

The former Sporting CP coach made his bow on Sunday at Portman Road, but could only earn a point against Ipswich Town.

Marcus Rashford put the Red Devils in the lead in the second minute, but Omari Hutchinson replied just before half-time, and the score remained intact throughout the second period.

While Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna felt his team deserved the win, Dalot argued the draw was a fair result based on the action.

“I think a draw is probably a fair result because we could have done better,” said the 25-year-old in his post-match interview with BBC Sport.

“We could have controlled much more of the game, especially after conceding the goal. We had the spaces but couldn’t find the moment to do it. If we are in control with the ball, we can be closer to winning the game.”

Dalot played as a left wingback in Amorim’s newly implemented 3-4-2-1 formation, and insists that he and his teammates must be fully ready to accept the tactical changes.

“We just need to be ready. For the standard of this club, we have to get information really quick.

“We have only been together with the international players for two or three days so you have to give credit to everyone.”

Finally, the former AC Milan man weighed in on the new manager’s impact, highlighting his ability to transmit his ideas smoothly.

“He has impacted straight away. The way he transmits ideas is really clear. We just need to put it into practice now.”
