England will welcome Germany at Wembley Stadium this Monday night as they hope to bounce back by securing a win at home. The Three Lions suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Italy recently, so Gareth Southgate will be eager to get a positive result from his men in the UEFA Nations League next week.

The England team will set themselves up in a 3-4-3 formation for this game with Southgate expected to make a few tweaks to his first XI for this game. Conor Coady, Fikayo Tomori and Jack Grealish will play from the start in this Nations League match in front of the England supporters.

Defence

Nick Pope will operate in goal for the Three Lions after shipping in a couple of goals versus Italy in his last outing. Southgate could name a back three of Fikayo Tomori, Eric Dier and John Stones for this game versus the Germans. The defensive trio will focus on keeping a solid shape at the back and restrict the opposition from finding the back of the net.

Harry Maguire will be available for selection on the bench as he provides cover for the centre-half positions.

Midfield

Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham will function as the holding midfielders as they look to get a stranglehold in the game at the centre of the park.

Reece James will be given another chance down the right flank while Bukayo Saka hopes to put his pace to good use from the left. Both of them need to track back and defend when the Germans are on the front foot.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and James Ward-Prowse will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they await their opportunity to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Raheem Sterling will look to catch the eye on the left-wing while Phil Foden tries to cause a few problems for the German defenders on the right.

Harry Kane will lead the charge for the Three Lions up top. The English centre-forward has to find a way to get his name on the scoresheet if his team are to come out on top this Monday night.

Tammy Abraham will have to settle for a place on the bench but might come on to influence the contest in the latter stages if Southgate’s side are in need of a goal by then.
