Stoke City have made their first permanent signing under new boss Mark Robins, bringing in Wales international Sorba Thomas from Huddersfield Town on a three-year deal.

The 25-year-old first joined Huddersfield from non-league Boreham Wood back in January 2021.

He quickly made a name for himself in the 2021/22 campaign, racking up 12 assists in the Championship and playing a key role in Carlos Corberán’s side reaching the play-off final.

However, his time in West Yorkshire became more unsettled the following season, with Thomas heading out on loan to Blackburn Rovers after falling out of favour under then-boss Mark Fotheringham. He was loaned out again last season, this time to Ligue 1 side Nantes.

The French club reportedly had the option to make the move permanent, but chose not to take it up - paving the way for Stoke to swoop in and seal the deal.
