Stoke City have confirmed that Ryan Shawcross has ended his 14-year stay at the club.
The 33-year-old is expected to link up with Phil Neville and David Beckham at Major League Soccer outfit Inter Miami.
“Ryan’s contribution to the club over the last 14 years simply cannot be underestimated,” Potters chief executive Tony Scholes told the club’s official website.
“His outstanding leadership and the consistency of his displays made him a talismanic figure for us.
“He has been an outstanding role-model, both on and off the pitch, and the way he applied himself in training and matches epitomised the city of Stoke-on-Trent – hard-working, committed and loyal.”
Shawcross joined Stoke from Manchester United in 2007 and went on to make over 400 appearances for the club, the vast majority of them as captain.
