Stoke City find themselves in 5th position in the league after a good start to the season with four wins in eight games. They have lost two matches and both of them have come recently, in the last four matches. The Potters lost their away match against Derby County last weekend and will look to get back on winning ways at home on Saturday.

Stoke have scored 11 goals from an xG of 11.61, slightly underperforming the metric. But they have conceded cheap goals as well and do not have the greatest defensive record to show so far. Stoke have had a lot of scorers till now with Jacob Brown being the leading scorer with two goals. Thomas Smith has been the best provider with three assists.

It is too early to say this but Hull City have had a season to forget till now. They are staring straight down the barrel of relegation sitting in 22nd position in the league. Hull have failed to win any match since the opening matchday and have since then lost five matches.

Hull have the second-lowest xG in the league of 5.53 and have scored five goals just. Their defensive display has been worse than what the forwards have put on, conceding 12 goals. They have gradually deteriorated and have conceded five of those in the last two matches.

Hull City have had the most passes per defensive action of 18.69 which shows their struggle to get the ball out of their defensive third quickly and efficiently. They fail to progress the ball and create attacks at a faster rate and in turn let the opposition create more pressure on them by pressing up high.

Stoke have a ppda of 10.44 which is on the lower side of the league average. This means the opposition gets 10 passes before Stoke win the ball back, on average. The Potters have also played quite a lot of passes more than others while trying to ball out of defensive third and have given away cheap goals.

However, Stoke have a far more better attacking output than Hull who have struggled in scoring goals as well.

Michael O’Neill will miss Tommy Smith for the game as the right-back is out due to a red card suspension. Except Smith, he will have an almost full Potters squad available for selection.

Richard Smallwood will miss the trip to Stoke due to red card suspension for Hull while Grant McCann will have all other players available to be picked.

We predict a 3-0 victory for Stoke at home.
