Stoke City are set to win the race for exciting Manchester City striker Liam Delap, as per a Twitter update from The Telegraph’s John Percy.
Delap’s potential availability has alerted a number of clubs from the Championship and even in the Premier League, with Southampton seeing a £15 million bid rejected.
Yesterday, Steve Bruce confirmed that West Brom were interested in the 19-year-old, whilst in conversation with Joe Chapman of Birmingham Live.
Netting 24 times in 20 Premier League 2 appearances during the 2020/21 campaign, and a further eight in 10 U23 matches last time out, Delap has been close to the first-team at Manchester City on a number of occasions.

The Potters have already bolstered their frontline with the addition of experienced forward Dwight Gayle, with Percy’s tweet suggesting that a season-long loan deal could be completed as early as this afternoon.
The verdict
Undoubtedly an exciting attacking talent, who lots of Championship clubs have considered as an option so far this summer, this will represent a major coup if all goes according to plan from a Stoke perspective.
Not only would the Potters be adding a striker who has excelled as a goalscorer, Delap’s energy and relentlessness would certainly provide Michael O’Neill with an extra dynamic.
With Gayle also arriving at the Bet 365 Stadium this summer, competition for places in Staffordshire will be very high, something that should drive performance levels.
Whilst perhaps in direct competition with Gayle, Delap could learn lots from the experienced front man who is still a player who can shine in the Championship.
