Stoke City faced a critical moment in their 2024-2025 EFL Championship season, sitting near the relegation zone and under pressure to improve their form.
With manager Mark Robins at the helm, the team had been struggling to find consistency, but they managed to secure an important three points with a 2-1 win over Hull City.
The match was challenging from the start, but Stoke City showed resilience and determination to come back from a losing position and earn the victory.
The match began with Hull City taking an early lead in the 6th minute, putting Stoke City on the back foot right from the start.
However, Stoke’s response came just before halftime, with Ali Al-Hamadi scoring his first goal for the club in the 43rd minute. This goal was a massive confidence boost for the team and the player, marking an important debut for the new signing.
The second half saw Hull City come out with an aggressive offensive strategy, creating several chances to retake the lead.
However, Stoke City’s goalkeeper, Viktor Johansson, was in excellent form, pulling off a series of key saves to keep his team in the game. His remarkable performances were vital in preserving the 1-1 scoreline.
In the 74th minute, Stoke City capitalized on a fantastic play by Lewis Koumas, who delivered a perfect assist to Andrew Moran.
Moran calmly finished to put Stoke City ahead 2-1, a goal that would prove to be the match-winner. Despite Hull City’s attempts to respond, Stoke held firm and saw out the game, securing a valuable victory.
This win not only moved Stoke City away from the relegation zone but also marked Mark Robins’ first victory in the EFL Championship since taking over the team. It was a crucial result for Stoke’s survival hopes as they continue their fight to stay in the second tier of English football.
