Stoke City are interested in Besiktas keeper Ersin Destanoglu as Alex Neil searches for a new number one, with a potential loan move in the pipeline.
The Potters sanctioned a move for Josef Bursik to Club Brugge last week, meaning Frankie Fielding and Jack Bonham the two senior keepers on their books at the moment.
However, there are doubts about the long-term future of both, as the pair are out of contract in the summer.
So, it’s an area of the pitch that Neil and the recruitment team need to focus on and reports from Turkey, as shared by Stoke-On-Trent Live, have claimed that Destanoglu is on their radar.
The 22-year-old was a regular for the Istanbul giants for the past two seasons and he had started the current campaign in between the sticks.
But, since the season resumes following the World Cup break, Destanoglu has been on the bench, so he may be open to a move if he won’t get regular game time moving forward.

The verdict
Even though Bonham is a decent option at this level, most would agree that Stoke could do with a better number one and Destanoglu would arrive with good pedigree.
He has clocked up a lot of appearances for his age and to play for a club like Besiktas shows he has talent and a good mentality.
So, this would be a good deal if Stoke can finalise it, although it’s unclear whether he could be the long-term answer as a permanent deal may be out of their price range.
