Having come through the youth ranks at Leicester, Maswanhise made his senior debut for the Foxes earlier this season, coming off the bench in their FA Cup win over Millwall.

He then followed that up in March by winning his first senior international cap for Zimbabwe, in a friendly defeat against Kenya.

Now it seems as though that progress is already starting to attract interest from elsewhere in the Football League.

Leicester winger a potential target for Stockport

According to this latest update, Maswanhise has recently joined Stockport on trial, and is already catching the eye there.

The forward reportedly scored a hat-trick for the Hatters' reserve team in a 3-3 friendly draw with Brentford B on Tuesday night.

As a result, Stockport are now said to be weighing up a potential move for Maswanhise, who is considering his options ahead of the summer.

It is thought that the striker's current contract with Leicester is due to expire at the end of this season, and it remains to be seen if the Foxes will offer him a new deal.

That of course, means he could be free to move where he wants when the season comes to an end, potentially opening the door for a move to Stockport.

It is already job done for Stockport this season, with promotion to League One as League Two champions already confirmed.

Leicester are now looking to match that feat at Championship level in the final two games of their regular season.

Enzo Maresca's side currently top of the standings, four points clear of second-placed Leeds United, and five clear of third-placed Ipswich Town, who do have a game in hand.

As a result, one more win will confirm the Foxes' promotion back to the top-flight of English football at the first attempt.

They are next in action on Monday night when they travel to Deepdale to face Preston North End, before ending the season at home to Blackburn Rovers at The King Power Stadium.

Maswanhise could be a good signing for Stockport

It does feel as though a move for Maswanhise may be a sensible one for Stockport to make.

Following their promotion to League One, there is a good chance that they will need to strengthen their squad as they prepare to make that step up a division.

Given the promise he has shown to get himself onto the fringes of the first-team at Leicester, while also getting an opportunity at international level, shows the potential Maswanhise has to make that positive impact at Edgeley Park.

Indeed, given the impact he has already made for Stockport in that trial appearance for the club, it would surely be a surprise if they are not now interested in a permanent deal for the 21-year-old.

Of course, his contract situation also means this ought to be an affordable deal for the Hatters to get done, if they do decide to pursue it.
