Still on the Bayern list: Eberl is a fan of Xavi Simons

Article image:Still on the Bayern list: Eberl is a fan of Xavi Simons

Xavi Simons played a strong season at RB Leipzig while on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. The Dutchman is now also on FC Bayern’s transfer list. One reason for this is apparently that FCB sporting director Max Eberl is a fan of the player.

Xavi Simons could have a big advocate at FC Bayern in sporting director Max Eberl. According to information from Sky, Eberl is a big fan of Simons. According to the report, this is another reason why Simons is on Munich’s transfer list. The German record champions had previously reported an interest in Simons.

On loan at RB Leipzig, Simons scored 10 goals and made 15 assists in 43 games. The Dutchman was loaned out by Paris Saint-Germain. According to Sky, Leipzig boss Eberl did a lot to ensure that the loan deal materialised. Eberl wooed the player on a massive scale. For example, he met with the player’s family to convince him to sign for Leipzig.

Simons is probably not particularly interested in playing for PSG again in the future, as RMC Sport recently reported. Simons still has a contract in the French capital until 2026, and the Paris bosses can probably imagine selling him.

Bayern transfer of Xavi Simons very difficult to realise

According to Sky, however, a transfer to Munich would be very difficult to realise. A transfer fee of 60 to 70 million euros is being discussed.

According to the report, there are further reasons for the difficulty of a possible deal: Simons‘ former club PSV Eindhoven still owns shares in the player. According to Le Parisien, PSV will receive additional payments from Paris Saint-Germain until 2025. It is possible that his new club would then have to take over these payments.

Another reason: Bayern would first need the proceeds from the sale of its own players. Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, in particular, are among the candidates. However, according to Sky, FCB would have to hurry, as Simons wants to make a decision on his future before EURO 2024.

Another reason why a Simons deal could be complicated for Bayern: Munich still haven’t found a new coach. However, it would be important for the player – as well as for other potential new signings – to know which coach he would be working with in the future.
