Pellegrini and Roma must part ways. A slow, inexorable farewell, painful in some ways, but now inevitable.
Seven months ago, the former captain was close to leaving the Giallorossi: Napoli’s advances almost convinced him, but he changed his mind after his derby goal and the embrace of the fans, which postponed any decision on his future.
However, it had been clear for some time that the club had no intention of renewing his contract.
Yesterday, for the first time since May, Pellegrini returned to training with his teammates, but his future seems distant, as he waits to find a new destination – writes Il Tempo.
It’s difficult to imagine him being called up for the match against Pisa: his last appearance for Roma could be on May 4, 2025, against Fiorentina at the Olimpico, when he was substituted at half-time.
Nothing is yet finalized: the number seven’s entourage has been working for days to identify a team that can offer him playing time and a suitable salary, also with a view to the national team and the World Cup.
West Ham remains a distant prospect, due to the London club’s difficulties with transfers. Fiorentina remains in the background, but so far has not initiated contact with either Roma or the player.
