Football in the UK can still go ahead this weekend but there is still no official decision from the Premier League, the FA, the Scottish FA, or any other relevant organisations.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has confirmed that there is no obligation to cancel fixtures following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.

Leading fixtures from the UK Government and league authorities have been in discussions on Friday as to whether games can be played over the weekend.

And although the chair of the DCMS, Julian Knight, has told talkSPORT that the advice is games shouldn’t take place this weekend, clubs are under no obligation to postpone their fixtures.

Decisions from the relevant organisations are expected in the coming hours.
