Steven Gerrard has agreed to a two-year contract extension as the head coach of Al Ettifaq, according to David Ornstein.
The former Aston Villa and Rangers manager’s current contract was set to expire in 2025, however the Saudi Pro League club have tied him down until 2027.
Al Ettifaq’s hierarchy is set to continue supporting Gerrard by providing funds for player signings and overall club development.
Gerrard initially took charge of Al Ettifaq in July 2023 after being sacked from Premier League side Aston Villa in October 2022.
Before his stint at Villa, Gerrard had a successful three-year spell managing Rangers, leading the Scottish side to the Premiership title in the 2020-21 season.
Despite facing inconsistency, with Al Ettifaq currently winless in their last eight matches, they want to support Gerrard in the upcoming transfer windows.
However, they are not among the four teams under the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund and therefore do not have similar resources to compete with the top clubs.
As of now, Gerrard’s team sit in eighth place on the Saudi Pro League table.
