Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn had a debut to remember after scoring in the 2-0 win over Manchester City.
Bergwijn joined Spurs from PSV for €32m in January, and introduced himself to Premier League football with a stunning second half strike.
The 22-year-old then unleashed his trademark celebration which got people thinking – what does it mean?
Thankfully, your curiosity will be answered straight from the man himself.
“It is nothing special, it has just come from when I play FIFA with friends,” he told Voetbal NL last year.
“They said ‘do it like this’ and since then I have always done it like this.”
So there you go. No hidden meaning or word play, like Alexandre Pato who used to celebrate in a similar fashion.
‘Pato’ means ‘duck’ in Portuguese, with the hand gesture somewhat resembling a duck bill.
That is something we can get behind.
