This has been a real boost to Martí Cifuentes’ side, with the gap to the relegation zone now six points.

Cook has wished supporters a happy Easter following his match-winning goal on Monday, to cap off two wins from two over the Easter weekend fixtures.

The defender has praised the support the team has received, posting an image of the ball on its way into the back of the net in celebration of an important three points.

“Clean sheet and a goal. Happy Easter,” wrote Cook, via Twitter.

“Unreal support once again. Up the R’s.”

Cook provided an impressive finish, volleying the ball into the bottom-left corner from a well-worked corner routine.

His only other goal of the league season came in the fixture before, in a 2-1 win over Birmingham City.

Fellow defender Jimmy Dunne provided the second in the important win over the Blues, highlighting the importance of the team’s defenders in attack for QPR.

These three goals could prove crucial come the end of the campaign, with the London club battling against relegation to League One.

Cifuentes has overseen an impressive rise out of the bottom three, with the Spaniard earning a lot of praise for his work at Loftus Road since taking over in late October.

Cook has been a key part of Cifuentes’ side since the manager’s arrival, making 21 appearances from 26 league games under the 41-year-old.

QPR league position

QPR are 16th in the Championship table, six points clear of Huddersfield Town in 22nd.

Victory over Swansea brought them within a point of the Welsh outfit, as they took a giant step towards safety.

Since Cifuentes’ arrival as manager, QPR have earned 38 points from 26 games, which is the ninth best record during that period.

Next up for Rangers is another big six-pointer in the relegation battle, with Sheffield Wednesday set to visit Loftus Road on 6 April.

Cook’s importance to QPR made clear this weekend

Cook has proven an outstanding signing from the R's and his two goals in two games are emblematic of just how crucial he’s been to Cifuentes’ squad this season.

These two wins could prove decisive in their relegation battle, and another victory on Saturday could all but ensure their safety.

Cifuentes deserves a lot of credit for how he has turned around the club’s fortunes in such a short space of time.

His appointment has been a masterstroke, and his record should raise optimism for QPR’s immediate future.
