Steve Bruce set new Premier League record at Newcastle United | OneFootball

Steve Bruce left Newcastle United last week after 27 months in the role of head coach.

Newcastle fans breathing a huge sigh of relief that one of the major Mike Ashley negatives was finally following the former owner out of the door.

After leaving with a reported £8m compensation stuffed in his pockets despite doing such a poor job, Steve Bruce saying he may not manage another club after his Newcastle experience.

Nice work if you can get it, not having to work again with the help of getting such a massive pay-off, leaving NUFC after a run of no wins in nine matches to start the 2021/22 season and a longer abysmal run of only seven wins in his final 38 Newcastle matches.

Steve Bruce is notorious for not having won a single trophy in over 23 years in football management, never even finishing top nine in the Premier League. However, it has now been revealed that on exiting Newcastle United, Steve Bruce has set a new Premier League record.

In previewing Saturday’s game, it is actually the official Chelsea website that has revealed Bruce’s moment in history as a manager.

I wondered if our club had really lost 13 managers / head coaches during a Premier League season, it does appear an awful lot…so I checked.

So yes, Steve Bruce is lucky number 13!

Obviously there was no other option than the new owners getting Steve Bruce out of the club ASAP before he could do even more damage.

However, being the Premier League club to make more managerial changes mid-season than any rival, does point to why down the years the club has struggled so often.
