Newcastle announced on Friday that Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie have both signed new three year deals at the club.

And Magpies boss Steve Bruce hopes that won’t be the end of the contract extensions.

Matty Longstaff’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and Bruce says he’s hoping the 19-year-old will extend, along with brother Sean.

“Sean has got something like two years left so there’s no big rush in that respect.

“Obviously, Matt we all know what I think of Matty. I was the one who gave him his debut.

“We’re hoping we can get something sorted with him.”

Bruce also gave an update on Federico Fernández’s contract situation, with the Argentine defender’s current deal due to expire in the summer.

“Feddy has an option for another year, and he’s been terrific,” said Bruce.

“We’ll address what we have to do over the next few weeks. If we can get a couple of results quickly, and know where we’re going to be next year, that’ll be better for all concerned.”
