Steve Bruce discusses potential West Brom transfer swoop for former fans favourite
Football League World
The defensive midfielder spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign at The Hawthorns when Albion were in the Premier League and whilst it resulted in relegation, the Turkish international was one of a few to enhance their reputation.
So, with Yokuslu having been released by Celta Vigo recently, some Baggies supporters had called for Bruce to make a move for the 28-year-old, particularly because he is looking to sign a ball-winning midfielder in the window.
However, speaking to the Express & Star after the pre-season friendly win over Leyton Orient, the Albion chief indicated this is not something they will pursue.
“He was a very good player, he didn’t play a lot last year – if I’m being brutally honest I think that ship might have sailed.”
Bruce has been busy in the market so far with two notable additions coming as they completed deals for John Swift and Jed Wallace.
Whilst further new signings are expected, it’s thought the focus will be on selling players in the coming weeks.

The verdict
You can understand why Albion fans wanted Yokuslu to return as he would appear to be an ideal fit for this team with the qualities he has.
Of course, it’s never that simple though and there are many factors that you have to take into account both from a financial and football perspective, with his lack of games last season a concern that Bruce brought up.
So, this is not one that’s going to happen but the experienced boss is still going to want to do some business before the deadline.
