Roma attacker Stephan El Shaarawy helped Roma seal a precious away victory at the Stadio Bentegodi in Verona ahead of Thursday night’s return leg with Ludogorets in the Europa League.

El Shaarawy admitted tonight’s match proved more complicated than initially expected as Roma struggled to convert their chances yet again.

“I’m very happy with the goal and with our victory tonight, which was hard fought and full of suffering this time as well unfortunately,” he told Sky Sport after the game.
