Stefano Sturaro’s permanent move from Juventus to Genoa has led to surprise across Italy after the midfielder became the Rossoblu’s most expensive ever signing on Wednesday.

Sturaro had previously joined Genoa in January on an initial six-month loan.

However, on Wednesday that move was made permanent after a statement on the Juve website read “following the achievement of the conditions provided by the contract, the obligation for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Stefano Sturaro by Genoa Cricket & Football Club S.p.A. became due for a consideration of € 16.5 million to be paid in four financial years.”

What the “achievement of the conditions of the contract” actually are have remained a mystery so far.

The reason for that is because Sturaro has yet to play a game for Genoa after suffering an achilles injury and sat on the bench last Saturday for their game with Sassuolo.

CalcioMercato believe that the “conditions” that made the transfer go from a loan to a permanent deal were as simple as Genoa picking up their first point since Sturaro joined the club, although that has not been confirmed by either club as yet.
