Stefano Pioli has been rewarded for the fine job he’s done with AC Milan with a contract extension.

Pioli has signed a deal worth a reported €3.5m-per-season that will keep him at San Siro until 2023 with the option of a further year.

The Rossoneri are currently second in the Serie A table and level on 32 points with leaders Napoli after 13 games of the season.

And after guiding the club back to the Champions League, Pioli’s side remain in with a chance of qualifying for the round of 16 after winning away at Atlético Madrid in midweek.

In a statement on the club’s official website, Piolo said: “I want to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to coach a team that is competitive but also rich in values that make Milan a unique club. I am proud of the progress we have made up to now.”

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Pioli’s contract extension won’t be the last, with Milan reportedly also preparing new deals for Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer.
