Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has issued a significant update on his future at the Etihad Stadium.

The 31-year-old is contracted at Manchester City until 2025 and won his second successive Premier League title on Sunday, as Pep Guardiola’s side were crowned Premier League champions for a record-breaking fourth consecutive season.

Ortega, who moved to the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer in July 2022, started Sunday’s landmark win over West Ham, and also made a series of defining saves during last Tuesday’s victory against Tottenham in north London.

The German goalkeeper is also set to start Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Final against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium, with Ederson still sidelined as a result of a facial fracture suffered in the second-half of the win against Spurs.

This weekend’s showdown clash could be Ortega’s final appearance for the Sky Blues, with the potential for Manchester City to sell the shot-stopper after contract extension talks reached an impasse.

The stalling of contract talks has thrown doubt over Ortega’s long-term future in east Manchester, despite the goalkeeper making 19 appearances so far this season for Guardiola’s side.

Manchester City officials are facing a major goalkeeping dilemma, with recent claims that first-choice goalkeeper Ederson could sensationally look to leave the club this summer, despite being contracted until 2026.

Despite emerging uncertainty surrounding Ederson’s future, Ortega has seemingly hinted that he could remain at Manchester City next season, with the goalkeeper speaking during Sunday’s title celebrations.

X account ‘Kermit Quisenberry’ translates the goalkeeper’s interview, which said: “There really aren’t any reasons not to stay here. I think I played 19 games so I’m getting my game time. I feel good here, my family as well.

“There would need to be offers which are much better than City and I currently don’t see that.”

Ortega has been linked with a possible return to the Bundesliga, meanwhile Ederson is bracing for offers from the Saudi Pro League, with a numbers of clubs interested in signing the 30-year-old.
