The lawyer of Inter defender Stefan de Vrij has said that the Dutchman has just come out of a nightmare after he was awarded damages in a case against his former agent, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sebastien Ledure explained that Inter have in some ways been damaged by the offence and the ensuing court case.

Stefan de Vrij took his former agent, Sports Entertainment Group (SEG) to court after he claimed they withheld information from him during his move from Lazio to Inter. This led to him receiving a lower salary than he intended. He has been awarded €4.75 million in damages.

“Ten years ago it would have been unthinkable to obtain such a victory. We never doubted the work of the Nerazzurri. They were convinced that the player was informed of everything. In some ways they too have been damaged.”

Stefan de Vrij is being heavily linked with a move away from Inter this summer as the club seek a move for Torino’s Gleison Bremer. Sebastien Ledure feels it is not the time to discuss his future.

“He has a contract for another year and Stefan has just come out of a bad nightmare: this is not the time to think about anything else.”

In terms of how the court ruling can affect players going forward, Sebastian Ledure said: “First of all it will allow the players to better understand which agencies act correctly and who, on the other hand, think essentially about their own business. It is not a small step.”

Stefan de Vrij is now represented by Mino Raiola, on whom the lawyer said: “There is a relationship of trust with Mino Raiola but without any mandate. If an interesting proposal arrives…”
