Stefan De Vrij No Longer Untouchable On The Pitch Making His Contract Situation Up In The Air, Italian Media Report | OneFootball

Inter defender Stefan de Vrij’s contract situation is very much up in the air due to the fact that he is no longer secure of his starting spot in the team.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that with Francesco Acerbi giving the Dutchman some of his toughest competition for a starting spot since he joined, de Vrij is no longer untouchable and this could make an agreement on a contract extension less likely.

Inter had looked all set to agree a new deal with de Vrij before the summer transfer window started, and there could still be a chance to find an agreement on an extension as they will not want to lose the 30-year-old on a free transfer when his current contract expires at the end of June 2023.

However, the Dutchman could decide that he prefers to leave if he feels that he is not guaranteed a starting place, which currently looks to be a possibility given Acerbi’s form.
