Both players have terrified opposition defenders this season and the pair have scored some phenomenal goals.
How do these two great players compare? FAWSL Full-Time have analysed the FBREF statistics and here is a breakdown of how the two players have performed.
It is Kerr who leads the goalscoring charts with 16 league goals, four more than nearest challenger Miedema. The Arsenal forward has actually had more shots on goal than Kerr (82 shots compared to the Australian international’s tally of 59), however, the latter is more accurate – Kerr has directed 54.2% of her efforts on target while Miedema has managed just 36.6%.
As you might expect from the above, Miedema has had more shots on goal per game (5.26 shots per game compared to Kerr’s 4.42) but Kerr is more accurate, directing 0.47 more shots on target per game than the Arsenal striker. Miedema is the only one to score a free-kick while neither player has scored a penalty.
In terms of shot creating actions, Miedema (62) has created more shots for her team than Kerr (43). This translates to a shot creation average of 3.98 shots per game by Miedema compared to Kerr’s rate of 3.22 shots created per game. Both players have been involved in the creation of nine goals for their respective teams, Kerr achieving that feat in 2.3 games less than Miedema.
Both players could face each other on Sunday when Arsenal take on Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup at the LV Bet Stadium.
