After three rounds of matches in the UEFA Women’s Champions League’s group stage, Chelsea’s Sam Kerr is one of three players to have scored four goals.

Kerr’s impressive goal return can only be matched by FC Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmatí and VfL Wolfsburg’s Ewa Pajor.

How has Kerr performed compared to Bonmatí and Pajor? FAWSL Full-Time have reviewed the UEFA statistics from the first three rounds of matches and here are our findings.

It is Bonmatí who has scored her four goals in the shortest time with the Spaniard having played 239 minutes. Kerr has scored four goals in 244 minutes while Pajor has netted her goals in 257 minutes.

Of the three top scorers, Kerr has converted her goals in the least number of attempts. The Australian international has managed 12 shots on goal, an average of one goal every three attempts. Bonmatí has had 14 shots on goal (3.5 shots per goal) while Pajor has had 22 attempts (5.5 shots per goal).

Kerr has recorded the best percentage of the three players for shots on target. She has directed eight of her 12 shots on goal (66.6% on target) while Bonmatí (50%) and Pajor (45.5%) rank second and third respectively. Some will argue that Kerr’s attempts tally ranks her below both Bonmatí and Pajor but accuracy means a lot in football.

In terms of the miscellaneous statistics, all three players have scored all of their goals from inside the box while none have netted from the penalty spot. Pajor is the only player to have seen a shot come back off the woodwork while Kerr is the only one not to have provided an assist for a teammate so far in the group stage.

Kerr will be hoping to build on her impressive record in this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage when Chelsea travel to Spain to take on Real Madrid in their next match on Thursday 8 December.
