Here is what you need to know this Thursday.

Porter on respect towards Nagbe

Columbus Crew midfielder Darlington Nagbe earned big praise from manager Caleb Porter ahead of the MLS All-Star game.

“There’s not a more respected player around the league, I can tell you that … he’s a deserved All-Star,” he said.

“Subtly he’s a leader in you would say maybe a quiet way. But inside the locker room, he’s a guy that definitely will, in a positive manner, be infectious with his team-mates in making them better.

“It’s very rare to have a connection like I have with Darlington … I’ve known him since he was 15 years old … When I saw him first play, my jaw dropped and I said, ‘this is one of the most special players I’ve ever seen.’ And the rest is history from there.”

St. Clair wins MLS All-Star MVP

Despite plenty of top talent hitting the pitch during the MLS All-Star game only one man could walk away with MVP honours and that was Minnesota United goalkeeper, Dayne St. Clair.

Medina shines in inaugural MLS NEXT All-Star Game

A late comeback saw the talent from the east beat talent from the west 2-1 in the inaugural MLS NEXT All-Star Game where San Jose ace Cruz Medina caught plenty of eyes.

“Thankfully we’re able to watch a lot of players,” said US men’s national team general manager Brian McBride.

“One that is here, Cruz Medina is certainly one of those players that we really see a pathway for him. It’s of course down to the player himself, but very motivated, talked with both himself and his father. That’s probably one, but there’s many here. You can see the talent. Everbody’s comfortable on the ball, so I’m glad I was able to get out here.”

Traustason departs for Norway

New England Revolution and midfielder Arnór Traustason have mutually parted ways following the termination of his contract.

He now joins Norweigan side IFK Norrköping.

Update on Brandon Vázquez’s national eligibility

Following the MLS All-Star game, FC Cincinnati forward Brandon Vázquez confirmed nobody from the Mexican Federation has approached him regarding a call up meaning the path to the USMNT remains clear.

ICYMI 👀

For our United States Men’s National Team fans out there, you won’t want to miss out on this news from across the pond.

Twenty-one-year-old forward Matthew Hoppe joined Championship side Middlesbrough where he will pair up with national team-mate Zack Steffen.

Throwback rack

In honour of the MLS All-Star game we are looking back on some of the biggest Mexican talents in MLS.

Javier ‘Chicarito’ Hernández joined LA Galazy back in 2020.
