Federico Bernardeschi’s first TFC interview

Toronto FC’s Italian recruitment continues as former Juventus ace Federico Bernardeschi is the latest Azzurri international to join the squad.

The 28-year-old spoke to the media about making the move to MLS as an official TFC player for the first time on Monday.

“I choose Toronto because this is a big project for the future,” he said. “And I see Toronto two months ago, in secret, with Bill, Bob, [agent/intermediary] Andrea [D’Amico], and I love Toronto – at one minute, [I wanted to] stay here. I love, I love so much.

“I finished a path in Italy and with a lot of winning, a lot of victories and also some losses and delusions as well.

“MLS is very competitive, and it has a huge future. And I really believe in the future project of this team. I decided to come here for a new opportunity to win, and to win internationally.”

Emanuel Reynoso named MLS POTW

Minnesota United ace Emanuel Reynoso picked up MLS Player of the Week honours following an impressive performance against D.C. United.

The 26-year-old finished the game with five shots and two goals to help the hosts pick up all three points.

Ravel Morrison joining D.C. United

New manager Wayne Rooney is linking up with a familiar face at D.C. United with reports claiming Ravel Morrison has agreed on a contract until 2023.

The former Derby County midfielder registered four goals and four assists in 36 appearances for Derby County last season with stints at Manchester United, West Ham, QPR, Atlas and Lazio also under his belt.

MLS TOTW revealed

Another XI was selected on Monday to represent the best talent within MLS this past week including the likes of Gonzalo Higuaín (Inter Miami), Santiago Rodriguez (New York City FC) and Alex Bono (Toronto FC).

Busquets admires MLS

Ahead of the friendly between Inter Miami and Barcelona, veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets carried out usual pre-game media duties.

And as a player with links to MLS over the years, Busquets admitted he does in fact have an admiration for the league.

“I’ve always really liked MLS, ever since David Villa came to play, and since then I’ve followed it a lot when I could,” he said.

Could he be the next big name to make the switch to the United States in the near future?
