Philadelphia in 7️⃣ heaven after destroying DC

Rivalry Week got off to a sensational start as Philadelphia Union made mincemeat of DC United.

Julián Carranza grabbed a hat-trick as Jim Curtin’s men shot back to the top of the Eastern Standings (temporarily, at least).

A record-breaking and historic night for the Union.

Rooney earmarked for DC job?

That thumping defeat leaves DC United second from bottom in the East and with the worst goal difference in the conference.

All this will surely only heighten the rumours linking former Designated Player Wayne Rooney with the hot seat at Audi Field next season.

Bale unveiled as LAFC win ‘El Tráfico’

It was a brilliant night all-round for Supporters’ Shield leaders, as they clung on for a 3-2 win over LA Galaxy.

The tone was set before kick-off when Gareth Bale, fresh off the plane from Europe, was paraded in front of the home crowd.

There were hopes that Giorgio Chiellini would make an appearance from the bench, but we will have to wait until at least the game at Nashville on Sunday week for either player to make their debuts in Black and Gold.

Toronto welcome Kaye home

Six years after leaving hometown club Toronto, Mark-Anthony Kaye is officially back with the Reds after a deal was struck with Colorado Rapids.

The Canada international has never played for TFC’s first team, but that will soon change as the 27-year-old is now at the peak of his powers.

As part of the agreement to bring the midfielder to BMO Field, teenager Ralph Priso goes in the opposite direction.

Cincinnati acquire Santos from Union

As was expected, Cincinnati have completed the signing of Sérgio Santos from Philadelphia.

The Brazilian attacker was traded for $300,000 in 2022 General Allocation Money, with a possible $625,000 in add-ons.

Sporting KC and Vujnović agree to part

Someone who is leaving the league altogether is striker Nikola Vujnović, whose loan at Sporting Kansas City has been terminated by mutual consent.

There had been an option to buy included in the deal agreed with Serbian side Voždovac in February.

However, with no goals in nine league games, it’s safe to say this was one move that simply didn’t work out.

Throwback rack 👕

It’s been a pretty miserable season to date for Sporting, lying as they do adrift at the foot of the Western Conference standings.

In an effort to cheer the Wizards up, here’s a reminder of better times when they won their second MLS Cup with victory over Real Salt Lake in 2013.

An absolutely beautiful two-tone number. Timeless!
