Tonight sees Liverpool face PSV in their final league phase match in the UEFA Champions League, where a win would see them finish with eight wins out of eight. This fixture was always seen as an opportunity to rest some key players, but yesterday’s travelling squad announcement only further supported that idea.
Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz were all left at home for this one. The returning Joe Gomez also didn’t make the trip, whilst Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota continue to be sidelined for this one.

With that being said, let’s attempt the impossible task of predicting Arne Slot’s starting eleven for this one…
Caoimhin Kelleher will get a deserved start in this one, whilst youngsters Vitezslav Jaros and Harvey Davies will be named amongst the subs. Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas will be two starting full-backs, with the experienced Andy Robertson being joined by young defenders Isaac Mabaya and James Norris.
At the heart of the defence, Wataru Endo will drop into the back four and will partner Jarell Quansah. Talented defender Amara Nallo will also be hoping to make his debut in this one.
Verdict: Kelleher, Bradley, Endo, Quansah, Tsimikas
It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to see Trey Nyoni start this game. The 17-year-old had enjoyed a meteoric rise since joining the club and certainly deserves a shot on the big stage.
Tyler Morton is expected to start as the deepest midfielder, whilst Harvey Elliott could finally get a starting role in the number ten role that he has been do desperate to impress in.

Slot has an abundance of young talent to use from the bench too, with the likes of James McConnell and Trent Kone-Doherty set to be named on the bench.
Verdict: Morton, Nyoni, Elliott
Despite a long list of key players being left out for this one, Slot still has some seriously dangerous attacking players at his disposal. Cody Gakpo is set to start against his former side and will look to build off his two goals and one assist against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Federico Chiesa is also finally set to be handed a starting role for this one on the right-wing, as he looks to really kickstart his Liverpool career after a frustrating start.

You can also expect to see Jayden Danns feature in this one and also the talented Kieran Morrison could make an appearance from the bench.
Verdict: Chiesa, Nunez, Gakpo
Starting XI: Kelleher, Bradley, Endo, Quansah, Tsimikas, Morton, Nyoni, Elliott, Chiesa, Nunez, Gakpo
Bench: Jaros, Davies, Mabaya, Nallo, Robertson, Norris, McConnell, Kone-Doherty, Morrison, Danns
