A highly-regarded member of the youth setup at La Liga giants Real Madrid is set to be afforded a place in the club’s travelling party for their upcoming tour of the USA.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards Joan Martínez as the player in question.
Martínez, for his part, is a 16-year-old central defender, who has long been making a name for himself as perhaps the standout talent across all of Real Madrid’s youth setup.
So highly thought of is the stopper, that Marca highlight him as Los Blancos’ answer to Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal.
Martínez has already drawn comparisons to Real legend Sergio Ramos, owing to all of his ‘physical appearance, style of play, spectacular physique and technical quality’.
And such traits, it is understood, look set to prove enough to earn the teenage talent a place for himself in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for their tour of the United States.
The Spanish champions are due to make their way stateside this weekend, as preparations for the new campaign continue to ramp up.
Their first fixture of the tour will take place against AC Milan, a week from today.
And Martínez, incredibly, could be thrown in from the off by Ancelotti and his coaching staff for the clash.
As per Marca:
‘Joan’s options are to play, above all, the first match against Milan, which Rüdiger and Militao will not be able to attend, since they will join the team on the 29th, directly from the USA.’
