With two games of the Ekstraklasa season remaining, Wisła Płock announced a change to their managerial structure. On Tuesday, Pavol Stano was dismissed after just over a year at the helm. He was replaced by Marek Saganowski.

Wisła currently sit in danger of relegation, just two points clear of Śląsk Wrocław in the drop zone. Hosting champions Raków Częstochowa on Sunday, it’s likely that their battle will go down to the final game.

The Spring round has seen a dramatic drop for the Nafciarze, who ended the Autumn round in sixth place, just a point off of the podium. Since the break they have lost 10 of their 15 games, leading the board to take action.

Former Southampton and Poland international striker Saganowski takes the reins in Płock after spells in the lower leagues with both Motor Lublin and Pogoń Siedlce. He has signed a contract to stay at the club until the end of the 2023/24 season, with the option to extend it for another year.
