Timothé Nkada has suffered a groin injury and will be out of action for several weeks. It's a major setback for the player, who was hoping to secure a spot in the Liège rotation from the outset. It's also a big disappointment for the club at the start of the season.
According to the club, Timothé Nkada complained of muscle pain during training. Unfortunately, medical tests revealed a groin strain, requiring immediate rest and tailored treatment. The exact length of his absence has yet to be determined, but it could last for several weeks depending on how he recovers.
Having joined Standard with the ambition of taking his game to the next level, Timothé Nkada had shown promising signs during pre-season. His pace and one-on-one ability made him a credible attacking option. This injury has now halted his positive momentum just as he was hoping to earn more playing time under his new coach.
"We have a squad without a striker: two injured and one suspended. Timothé felt something in his groin, he's suffering from a tear that will keep him out for three to four weeks. Maybe this injury is because he didn't do pre-season with us," said Mircea Rednic regarding Timothé Nkada's injury.
Nkada's absence is forcing the coaching staff to rethink their plans in attack. With a busy schedule ahead, both in the league and the cup, Standard will have to rely on other options to fill the gap left by the Franco-Cameroonian forward, at least until he's back to full fitness.
