St. Mary's lamented miraculous attempts going in vain and Rusk can't help either

Simon Rusk echoed the general feeling among the St. Mary's crowd that Aaron Ramsdale deserved something from this match after saving Marco Asensio's penalties twice.
It’s been a week since Southampton surrendered to relegation with that 3-1 defeat to Spurs. And since then? A sea of redevelopments, Juric sacked, Rusk reappointed, and more reshuffling has happened behind the scenes.
But the question remains, are the St. Mary’s faithful still hopeful? Maybe not. What once felt like a new chapter has already started reading like the same old story. At least, the latest patterned 3-0 defeat says so.
And here’s why. Under Juric, the Saints looked lost. Under Rusk? Still the same. Back then it was a one-man show. Now? Same cast and the same script.
In fact, tell me, what more can a keeper do after saving two penalties in one game? Nothing. Ramsdale did just that against Aston Villa yesterday. And yet, like every other Saint out there, he walked off with nothing.
Impressively, once at 0-0 and again when trailing 0-2, Ramsdale denied Marco Asensio twice, but with little help from his defence, he still ended up conceding three by full time.
Naturally, the fans felt for the keeper, who looked visibly frustrated for the first time in this despairing campaign. But, what's concerning is that boss Rusk couldn't do anything either, except join the fans in their support of Ramsdale.
As quoted by the Daily Echo, post-fixture, Rusk said: "I mean, Rambo's great, isn't he? I'm disappointed for him because he probably deserved more from the result."
Notably, Rusk’s consolatory comments, following another brilliant Ramsdale performance, came just days after Saints hero Wayne Bridge also voiced concern over the keeper’s situation.
Coincidence? Maybe. But Ramsdale’s growing frustration might say otherwise. How long can he keep showing up while surrounded by 10 listless teammates?
If he’s truly had enough, then good luck, Saints fans, Ramsdale might be on his way out. And if he leaves during this chaos, it’ll only deepen the storm.
