St. Louis City SC held preliminary talks with Marco Reus ahead of his departure from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season, The Athletic's Tom Bogert reported.
Samir Nasri first mentioned on Canal+ after Borussia Dortmund advanced to the Champions League final that the German midfielder was exploring a move to Major League Soccer after his contract expires.
According to Bogert, St. Louis hasn't even placed Reus on their discovery list as of writing. MLS teams have to put players on a discovery list before signing them. Reus does have a friend and former Borussia Dortmund player in St. Louis with goalkeeper Roman Burki. According to The Athletic, Reus has also been linked with clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Dortmund announced May 3 that the club and player came to a mutual decision that his contract will not be renewed at the end of the season. Four days later, Dortmund moved one step closer to a fairytale ending by knocking Paris Saint-Germain out of the Champions League. Reus has an opportunity to deliver Europe's biggest prize to the club he stayed loyal to for years before leaving.
St. Louis has a big Bundesliga presence in the team with Burki, Eduard Lowen and Joao Klaus.
Reus would be the third Bundesliga player to move to MLS in the last six months. Emil Forsberg and Hannes Wolf moved from RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach respectively to New York Red Bulls and New York City FC.
St. Louis is currently ninth in the Western Conference with 13 points. The team's second MLS season hasn't gotten off to as good of a start compared to last year. St. Louis has drawn a league-high seven matches in 10 played so far.
